TOTAL MONEY RAISED: $9100.00

The Guilford Firefighters Union normally is a department who in the past has only raised between $1000 and $2200 in a year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year we set our goals high and made our annual goal for the year $5000. Thanks to the generosity of the citizens of Guilford and the effort put forth by the members of Local 4177 we were able to raise a total of $9100 to help find a cure for muscular dystrophy. On behalf of the Guilford Firefighters Union we would like to thank everyone who donated there hard earned money to allow us to help Jerry's Kids.

(L-R) Mange, Mate, Johnson, Considine, Dale

The Guilford Professional Firefighters Local 4177 participated in a fund raising event to help find a cure for cancer. The event was called “Tackle the Tower at Hartford 21.” This event was sponsored by the American Lung Association. Funds raised are to help research efforts in finding a cure for cancer.

Local 4177 members, Richard Johnson, James Considine, Glenn Mate, Rand Mange and Gram Dale climbed 68 flights of stairs at the Hartford 21 building on March 28th, 2009. Each firefighter climbed the stairs in full protective clothing with their air packs on, simulating an actual rescue or firefighting maneuver taking place. The firefighter’s raised nearly $800.00 together for the cause. The Local 4177 is planning to participate at the next event in the fall in Stamford at the new Trump building.
