Dive Training in
Portland,CT

The Guilford Fire Department
Dive team went up to the Portland quarry to carry out dive
training for the day in early September. Guilford firefighters
were joined by two members of the Branford Fire Department in
the training evolutions for the day. The divers searched
underwater cars and planes to practice the skills needed to
efficiently carry out underwater search operations.

The Van Air compressor system allows
Firefighters to operate large volume air tools at an extended
distance from the truck while keeping adequate air flow to the
desired tool. It accomplishes this by using the air hose as a
reservoir for the system. Currently in the system pictured above
we have a 2.5" fire hose which gets split by a wye valve into
two smaller diameter lines allowing us to operate two
simultaneous tools at adequate pressures.
