Union History in Guilford
Guilford's firefighters have been a union department since
2002. At that time we had 4 firefighters on shift staffing Car 1
and the Heavy Rescue. As we grew the town realized that as
populations increase, and calls increase, staffing has to follow
suite. In 2007 the town hired 4 new firefighters to boost
staffing to 5 firefighters on shift. In 2009 the town hired 4
more firefighters to place us at our current staffing of 6 on
shift. Currently we are on track to hire 8 new firefighters in
early 2010 to bump us up to 8 on shift staffing additional
apparatus.
Guilford career firefighters are a pro active group that
strives to always assist our community. We are involved in
charity events and fundraisers which include the Muscular
Dystrophy Association, St. Baldricks, Camp Rising Sun and many
more. We hope that this page has allowed you to further your
knowledge about our services.
